It has 9 power levels from 1 to 9 after which one can activate a “boost button” for maximum power. The boost remains for five minutes after which the zone goes to level 9 automatically. Different power levels can be selected for all four heating elements.

Touch-sensitive digital control panels which beeps once switched on and all the indicators light up for 1 second then go out.

With the help of a timer feature, timing can be selected from 1 minute to 99 minutes. The timer can be used as a minute reminder or as a cut off timer.

In case of the timer being used as a minute reminder, the timer will not turn any cooking zone off after time is up. The timer button is displayed in the control panel with a picture of a clock.

The four heating elements have a minimum size of cookware and a maximum size of cookware for each heating element.

Make sure the size is not less than an inch and half less than the ring ( for example if its 8 inches, the minimum size of the cookware should not be less than should be 6.5) and the maximum should be half an inch larger and not more for a good performance.

The control panel has a child lock button feature with a picture of a lock and a pause button. There is a separate + and – button to increase or decrease the setting. Timer also has a separate + and – button.

Good temperature sensors prevent overheating. It also has embedded fans and residual heat indicators.

What we liked about the Empava Induction Cooktop

It has a strong, sturdy and beautiful design. The red LED display with a sleek black glass surface offers an attractive modern look which compliments the entire kitchen. The glass surface is extremely smooth and stain-resistant.

It is very easy to clean with no burns or difficult stains. The spills are very easy to clean as they do not form hard deposits. It is capable of withstanding intense heats without the fear of cracking or chipping.

Digital touch controls make cooking, a “glide through the process”. They are more like touch buttons on the phone and are extremely effective and sensitive. The buttons are located in the front of the panel and are pretty easy to operate.

The functions are quite simple and easy to grasp and once they are familiar, no other cooktop will be able to take its place. The speed at which the temperatures can be changed in awesome and the variety that comes along is unbelievable. You can melt chocolate, heat, fry, simmer, boil, roast, stir. With wide power settings, everything is possible.

With four heating elements present, experiment with cooking with different sized dishes. You can also cook in bulk as four heating elements are at your service at the same time. You can also try different varieties of food being cooked at the same time!

It heats up quickly within seconds and heats up evenly all the surface of the cookware. Heat remains confined to the cookware leaving the rest of the cooktop cool to touch. A relief as no accidental burns on touching cooktop surface!

As a safety measure, if no button is pressed after switching on, the cooktop will automatically shut down after one minute. These safety measures save energy as well as no cooking takes place. Automatic pan detection sensor turns off when no pan is present for safety and efficiency.

Automatic shut down also happens when overheated or when cut off timer is complete. This leaves the chef free from coming back to check on the dish and switching off the induction.

There is also a hot surface indicator in the cooking area display. It will let you know when the surface is hot to touch with just a glance. Once the heat indicator is off, the induction has cooled down and is safe to touch. The residual heat after cooking meanwhile can be used to keep the food warm or melt certain foods.

The best safety function which all mothers look out for is a child lock which is embedded in this cooktop. It prevents accidental change of temperatures by children or adults and ensures smooth delivery of the cooking process.

To increase safety, the on and off button remain active while child lock is activated in case of jamming of buttons or an emergency.

The best feature is the pause button. With the help of this, cooking can be paused midway at any power level temporarily for about 30 mins. The food will be kept in a warm stage during this time.

What Could have been better

Empava 30 Inch Induction Cooktop Review

Empava induction does not come with metal trim edges. It is vulnerable at edges with only glass.

Unlike most induction settings, Empava does not really have a low setting. It rather throttles the temperature down by powering on and off in cycles. It does not stay at the lowest level so simmering on low levels is hard with this cooktop.

Everything is too near each other. The rings are nearby, the control panel is too near the heating element.

The chances of spills and splatters and loss/change of functions in the control panel are high. Accidental heating up of the control surface can also occur.

Like all induction cooktops, it hums briefly. The humming can be due to cookware or high settings.

Also, no matter how tough the glass is and however tempered it may be, glass is not steel and can break or crack if hard objects are thumped on it or fall on it by accident.

The buttons are small and super sensitive and are placed too near each other. If a liquid falls on it or wet film covers the glass surface, it becomes difficult to read and operate.

It becomes impossible to maintain a distance of 1 foot from the cooktop according to ICNIRP guidelines to avoid EMF exposure.

As the induction consists of a complex embedded system, repair requires professional help which can cost you quite a bit.

Certain value-added smart features are not updated in this cooktop. Features like being wifi enabled, remote control operations, etc. are missing from this model.

How Empava 30 inch induction cooktop works

Place the induction at an appropriate distance from the wall so that the inlet or outlet is not blocked. Make sure all protective covering has been removed from the cooktop surface. Keep things that are sensitive to the magnetic field away from the cooktop.

The controls respond to touch so no need to apply pressure. Use the ball of your finger to operate and not its tip. You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.

Make sure the controls are always dry and clean. There should be no object covering the controls like utensils or cloth. Even a thin film of water makes the controls difficult to operate.

The cookware has to be ferromagnetic in order to work on induction. Place an ordinary magnet to the base of the cookware. If it sticks, the cookware will work on the Empava Induction cooktop. The base of the cookware has to be flat.

Make sure the base of the cookware and the top of the induction is dry before placing the cookware. To avoid stray radiations, place cookware on the cooktop before switching it on.

Match the center of the circle of the cooktop with the center of cookware and place the pot softly. Switch the power on. A soft beep will be heard and all indicators will light up for a second and then go out. This indicates that the cooktop has gone to standby mode.

Touch the on/off button once. The LED display will show “-”. now touch the on/off button of the heating element you wish to cook on. Use the + and – buttons to select the power levels you desire from 1 to 9.

If you wish to boost press the boost button. Boost will work for five minutes and then the power level will automatically switch to level 9 of the particular heating element. You can modify the power levels at any time during the cooking.

If no buttons are pressed within a minute of switching on, the induction will automatically shut down.

During cooking, there is an option to activate the child lock. Simply hold the child lock key for 3 seconds to lock and 3 seconds to unlock. Cooking can also be paused temporarily for 30 minutes.

Pressing the pause button again will revert the heating element to its original setting. If the pause button is not activated again within 30 minutes, the cooktop will automatically shut down.

The timer can be used as a minute reminder or as a cut off timer to turn one or more cooking zones off after the set time is complete. To set the timer as a minute reminder. Touch the timer button and then select the + or – button until the right time is displayed.

When the time is set, it will begin to count down immediately. The display will show the remaining time. When the selected time is over, the buzzer will beep for 30 seconds and the display will show “–”.

To use the time to switch off one or more cooking zone, touch the on/off button of the zone you want to select. Touch the timer control button and then choose the + or – buttons to set the time. When the time is set, it will begin countdown immediately.

There will be a red dot at the right bottom corner of the power display of the particular heating element. This is helpful as it indicates which heating element is selected. When the cooking time expires, the corresponding heating element will switch off automatically.

To shut down, touch the on/off button of the heating element and then shut the main on/off button on the control panel. Beware of hot surfaces. ‘H’ will be displayed on LED signifying that the surface is hot to touch. Wait for it to disappear before starting the process of cleaning.

Once the cooktop has cooled down, wipe with a cleaning solution or a very mild liquid soapy solution. Follow with a dry wipe.

For tough stains, sugar residues and other spillovers use a specialized cooktop scraper at a 30-degree angle and gently scrape away the tough residue. Follow with a wet wipe and then a dry wipe. Read all about cleaning cooktops in our article here.

For stains and scratches that do not go away, do not worry. They will not affect the working of the cooktop in any way.
